Written Reflection:

In Washington D.C we participated in multiple activities in pursuit of helping those experiencing low-income, or those who are unhoused and in total foster, a sense of community and care for the less fortunate. We started off the day at D.C Central Kitchen where I was sorting and packaging fruit with the Healthy Corners section of D.C.C.K. We then went on to listen to speakers hosted by the National Coalition for the Homeless, which is what I talk about in my video. Shortly after, we went to give out the clothes to those in need, using the clothes we collected during our clothing drive here at Gettysburg College. Our adventure to D.C made me personally grow and reflect on the struggles of those experiencing homelessness, what they have been through, and what they have to deal with. Despite their setbacks, they continue to harbor an attitude of grit and resilience. Their positive outlooks were infectious and are key to bringing light to such an unfortunate situation.
